- March 30 – Maria’s catered lunch for teachers on the early release day when they have professional development
- May 2-6 – Teacher appreciation week
ENRICHMENT COMMITTEE
Bit Coppola, Enrichment Chair
- This week Audubon Joppa Flats enrichment sessions
- Tidepool unit for K and 1st graders
- Live storytime STEM unit coming for Pre-K / K
- Brazilian Dancers will come for a session in the spring at the outdoor amphitheater classroom
- Rachel Leavitt recommended a speaker that addresses why being different is awesome and he will be coming in person in June for all classes
GARDEN COMMITTEE

- Ongoing Mindfulness Sessions with Students
- Voted to add 3 (to the original 3) additional sessions
- Garden Shed Announcement and Plan
- Ordered and to be installed in May/June
- Garden beds to be installed soon
- Harvest of the Month
- Children were able to taste freshly produced mozzarella cheese served with tomatoes.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Jess Chamberlin, PTO Co-Treasurer
- Voted to purchase a shed as a gift to the new school for use in conjunction with the garden program
- Annual supply replenishment for teachers completed – $3,000 – next year evaluating options for a different model next year (i.e. supplier closet)
- Enrichment expenditures total just over $15K which is our focus area
UPCOMING EVENTS
Fun Run 2022, May 25 – Karla Strobel, PTO Vice President
Rain date June 1. Will be held outside at the school. Last year we raised $19K – our largest success yet. Volunteers will be needed and a signup forthcoming.
Earth Day School Clean Up – Madey Poss, PTO Co-Secretary
- April 22 – Mrs. Willard approached us about collaborating about cleaning up on the playgrounds in conjunction with Early Day (April 22). More to come!
Student Art Exhibit at Community Center – Karla Strobel, PTO Vice President
- PTO supported the purchasing of frames for the the ongoing art show at the Community Center our art teacher, Mrs. H has coordinated with student works from Glover as well.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

- Massachusetts Safe Routes to School – Be the representative for Brown School!
- First meeting April 8th and committee has been established
- Harvest of the Month (ongoing) – Coordinator needed for next year (largely sourcing the locally produced harvest item and coordinating with the food service directory for the prep and serving. We also coordinate with the nurse to factor in food allergies).
