This fall, Brown School third grade students helped garden coordinator Miss Holly harvest produce and flowers to prepare for a submission to the Topsfield Fair! Visitors to the fair viewed our Brown School flowers and vegetables on exhibit!
Local food pantries also received a delicious donation when Mrs. McMahon’s third grade class developed and executed the idea to harvest and bag potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and swiss chard. The third grade team also helped seed corn and beans for planting in a future garden!
The Brown School Garden program is an enrichment program developed and funded by the Brown School PTO.
Ask your student about their own experience with the school garden!
So far this fall, kindergartners explored the garden using their fives senses.
Our first graders discovered the six plant parts growing in the garden.
Second grade students learned about the producers, consumers and decomposers that live in the garden ecosystem and third graders were busy bringing in the harvest!
We can only continue our work to enrich our students’ experience through the garden program with your support! Please consider a donation to the garden program today! There are two ways to donate:
- Write a check payable to the Brown School PTO and mail it to:
Brown School PTO, 40 Baldwin Road Marblehead, MA 01945
- Donate via our directory site: https://brownschoolpto.membershiptoolkit.com
Please note that the Brown School PTO is an IRS approved 501(c)3 organization. All donations are tax-deductible. Check with your employer regarding matching gift programs!
