Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! We hope you had a wonderful summer and are excited for the first full year in the Lucretia and Joseph Brown School. We are looking forward to seeing old friends, welcoming the many new members of our school community (including our new principal, Mary Maxfield!), and supporting our students, parents, teachers and staff throughout the year ahead.
Our PTO provides financial and volunteer support in many different ways throughout the Brown School. We fund and staff enrichment activities tied to the curriculum, such as the Atlantic Great White Shark Conservancy, Brazilian Beats Drummers, Discovery Museums’ Traveling Science Workshops and the on-site Brown Elementary Garden Program. We organize and run community building events including the Monster Mash at Halloween and the Holiday Shop in December. We support our incredible staff through regular teacher appreciation events, classroom supply drives, and subscriptions to RazKids, TIME for Kids, BrainPop, Jr. and Science Spins magazine. We strive to promote school spirit through our events and we are fortunate to work closely with our dedicated staff to help our students learn and grow.
Whether this year is your family’s first year at Brown, or your last, the PTO needs your help and support! Volunteering with the PTO is a great way to get involved in the Brown School community and there are opportunities for all schedules and skill-sets. You can help set-up or plan events, volunteer at the Magic Hat Thrift Shop, deliver extra supplies, help with teacher appreciation coffees or garden with your student’s class, all while getting to know other parents.
One of the important ways we provide our school with these opportunities is through fundraising. Please help us continue our work to enrich our students’ experience by taking part in our Fall Contribution Drive. We are grateful for any amount that works for your family. There are two ways to donate:
- Write a check payable to the Brown School PTO and mail it to:
Brown School PTO, 40 Baldwin Road Marblehead, MA 01945
- Donate via our directory site: https://brownschoolpto.membershiptoolkit.com
Please note that the Brown School PTO is an IRS approved 501(c)3 organization. All donations are tax-deductible. Check with your employer regarding matching gift programs!
Please mark your calendars for our first Brown PTO meeting on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 8:30 AM. We welcome all parents to our meetings! Meeting details to follow.
The best way to stay in the know and keep in touch with other families in your class is by:
- joining our online family directory at brownschoolpto.membershiptoolkit.com;
- finding vital information and volunteer opportunities at brownschoolpto.org;
- following us on Facebook @ljbrownschoolpto; and
- emailing us with any questions at brownschoolptomhd@gmail.com.
We wish everyone a successful start to the school year!
Sincerely,
Your 2022-2023 PTO Board
